Sleep: quality over quantity

This is a great podcast with Nick Littlehales - famous in the cycling world for having helped team Sky design their sleep strategy. Remember those stories a few years ago of the team lugging around mattresses and pillows for the riders?


Recovery between workouts is a key driver in how our training affects us. Better recovery and we can sustain a higher workload. Thinking along the lines of our key training principles of consistency and repeatability, sleep becomes even more important. Sleeping is a key component in this equation, and a challenge for many of us.


Improving our sleep quality fits right in with the Toolbox concept: better on the bike without pushing more watts.


This podcast is great as it delves into some real strategies on how to improve your sleeping. We all tend to think that more sleep is better. More important than the quantity is the quality of our sleep. And perhaps even more important is the consistency (there’s that word again). Listen on:
